Who We Are

Ted Zemper

Theodore (Ted) J. Zemper, started his career as an engineer; became a sales executive; found a niche training high level sales and service personnel, founded and grew a company of like minded sales and service professionals to provide unique capabilities to enterprises worldwide and now is applying this experience as a consultant.
Ted has over 39 years of successful technical, sales, sales management, training, CEO, and consulting experience. He began his career with Honeywell as an Electrical Process Engineer after graduating with a BSME in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. After gaining foreign engineering experience in Germany with three German technical firms, and in aerospace engineering with Honeywell, Ted migrated into sales of complex, long cycle products - information systems. He moved through a succession of sales and sales management positions with Honeywell and later with General Electric Co. in Los Angeles, New York City, and Detroit (his hometown). He moved to Chicago to head up Honeywell’s Central Region sales, systems and management training operations.
In the early 70’s he founded the Sales Development Division of Fortex Data Corp., then a Dun & Bradstreet subsidiary. In 1975, Fortex Sales Development became Sales Development Associates later renamed SDA Corporation, with Ted Zemper as its president.

SDA over the next 21 years became a recognized leader in providing instructor-led sales and customer service training systems that were tailored to their clients’ product or service, specific market, and measurable business objectives. In November of 1996, SDA merged its operations with Raymond Karsan Associates, then the fastest growing human resources company in America – included on the Inc 500 List of Fastest Growing Companies for four consecutive years. In 2001, Raymond Karsan Associates was renamed Kenexa Technologies, Inc. (Kenexa).
SDA throughout its history focused attention in five major industry sectors, each involving the sale and servicing of complex products or services, complex and long selling cycles, and requiring highly trained or educated sales/service representation. These sectors included information technology, financial/banking services, capital medical equipment, industrial products/services and professional services. Long term clients include BankOne (now Chase), GE - Medical Systems and Financial Services, Toshiba, Siemens, Wachovia, Sherwin Williams, Cookson Electronics.
In early 1999, Ted relinquished his full time duties at Kenexa and has taken on a consulting relationship with several companies. He served as board president of the Johnsburg, IL Police Pension Board and acts as treasurer of his church.

Ted has been active in various associations including Toastmasters, CSTA, and TEC. He is also a technical advisor to several small, closely held companies. An automobile buff, he restored a vintage ‘52 Mercedes convertible that is now often seen in Chicago area parades along side his ‘57 red T-Bird.
Ted lives in Johnsburg, Illinois (exurban Chicago) with his wife, Anne, a self-employed speech pathologist and their golden retriever, Chutney. They have two adult children and one granddaughter.  As part of L. R. Levin Consulting, L.L.C., like the other "key players," Ted brings a unique prospective for assisting individuals and companies to identify and solve business challenges.
